Welcome to the Office of Church Relations & Development!
Bienvenidos! McCurdy School welcomes you and invites
you to explore the many opportunities to serve God and God’s ministries at our
100 year old United Methodist mission school. We are a program of the Women’s Division of the United
Methodist Church and our Advance number is 581479. In 2012, we are celebrating the 100th anniversary
of Mellie Perkins, an Evangelical United Brethren deaconess, arriving in the
Espanola Valley by train and starting the school. At that time McCurdy was the ONLY school in the valley. This year we remember Mellie and the
thousands of other missionaries, teachers, staff members and volunteers who
have worked sacrificially to keep the school strong and we are strong! Last year we graduated 31 seniors, one
went to Job Corps and the other 30 earned $417,000 in scholarships to
college. We continue to have a
zero percent dropout rate while the Espanola Public Schools has a 53% dropout
rate. We greatly appreciate our
numerous volunteers and donors who help keep us strong by sharing their skills,
their funds and their prayers with us.
The primary responsibility
of McCurdy’s Office of Church Relations is to interpret the work of our mission
school to United Methodist churches, organizations and individuals. To get on our mailing list or ask a
question about the school please email me at or call at
505-723-7221, ext. 352. To find
out more about our Volunteers in Mission program please email our Assistant
Director of Church Relations, Ms. Vickie Luviano, or call her at
505-753-7221, ext. 264. We are
prepared to travel in order to share our ministry with your congregation,
Sunday School class, UMW unit or mission conference. Just give us a call!
May God richly bless you as you have blessed McCurdy School,
Rev. Diana Loomis, Director of Development and Church
