or to one of the departments at McCurdy

Letter from the McCurdy Foundation concerning ways to give.

WE NEED YOU! Now more than ever

Reasons to give..
• No gift is greater than an education, a gift that lasts for life.
• Every dollar you contribute to McCurdy benefits students. Donations keep tuition lower than the actual cost, so more families can send their children to the best school in Northern New Mexico.
• Your gift is tax deductible.
• Part of the mission of McCurdy is to embrace diversity—cultural, economic, demographic, and intellectual. By helping to support McCurdy, you help make that possible.

Can I designate where my gift goes?

Yes, you can. There are several designations for your gift.
• The McCurdy General Fund - your money goes to the greatest need for maintaining the school, faculty development, and day to day operations.
• The McCurdy Scholarship Fund - your money here will make it possible for deserving students to attend McCurdy.
• Project Carino -

What Other Ways Can I Give To McCurdy?

You can give of your time and talents.

We have volunteers working at McCurdy in many different capacities.

Individuals can volunteer their time and talents at McCurdy helping in classrooms or offices.

VIM (Volunteers In Mission) of the United Methodist Church

Short-term volunteers commit to working from two weeks to a few months. The availability of housing and the needs of McCurdy School are considered when accepting VIMs for service. All VIMs work closely with the staff of McCurdy School.

Long term volunteers commit themselves for at least one semester, and often, for a full school year. Because they have the time to get to know the students and earn their trust, these VIMs typically work as tutors or library and classroom aides. Many long-term volunteers also work in the maintenance department and school offices.

We try to match volunteers with their interests and skills, but VIMs need to be flexible, as sometimes assignments may not exactly meet expectations. Allow God to surprise you with some new experiences! VIMs live in the dormitory and may eat lunch in the cafeteria for a nominal fee when school is in session.

To be considered a full-time volunteer, you are asked to work 35 hours per week.

You Could Come With a Work Team.

McCurdy school prepares students for the rapidly-changing global community. Some of the characteristics that make us special are the small class size, outstanding, dedicated faculty and staff, academic and extracurricular activities, high expectations, and a dedication to affordability and accessibility.

To accomplish this requires significant resources. Presently, the direct educational costs per student per year are approaching $30,000. The full tuition covers less than one-fourth (1/4) of this cost. Therefore, the remainder has to be raised from other sources, which includes donations, endowments and philanthropic gifts.

If you are in a United Methodist Church and would like to give through your church, you can send money to McCurdy through an

ADVANCE PROJECT
McCurdy School, Espanola, New Mexico

The Global Ministries - UMC provides opportunities for spreading God’s Love around the World to further the cause of Christ and His gospel. These opportunities are called Advance Projects; as they are Advancing Hope in Christ’s Name. These projects are selected by the Methodist Churches in each country as priority needs. One hundred percent (100%) of Advance donations support the specific projects. None is used for administrative costs. McCurdy School has been approved as an Advance Special of the Conference Board of Global Ministries. McCurdy School provides quality Christian based education for pre-school, kindergarten, elementary, and high school students in Northern New Mexico.

Your monthly gift to this Advance Project helps us to maintain a Christian school with an exceptional education for students each year!

McCurdy School is located in an area that has high drug usage and violence. The average yearly income in the Espanola Valley is $29,000.

You can write your support check to the UMC where you worship and put it in the collection plate with this note at the bottom on the note/memo line: Advance #581479 – McCurdy School Fund

Especially now, with the economy in bad shape, there are many families who were able to pay the low fees for their child(ren) to go to school at McCurdy, who no longer can pay those fees. Also, because of the economy, McCurdy has had to raise their tuition and that has made it impossibly for some families to afford tuition. Therefore, we really need scholarships so students can continue to go to McCurdy. You can contribute to the “Need-Based Scholarships Advanced Special : #581485-0.

Due to the many problems that exist in the Espanola Valley and the negative pressures many of the students have to deal with on a regular basis, McCurdy participates in Project Carino: #581483-7 .

To Make Regular donations to one of these Advance Projects by Bank check: you can do it easily and painlessly by a monthly bank draft. Here's how:
Most banks allow you to pay bills on a monthly basis. You can make regular monthly donations to The Advance using this process. The bank should make the monthly check payable to “Advance GCFA” in the amount you designate and send it to: Advance GCFA, P.O. Box 9068, GPO, New York, NY 10087-9068. The “Memo” line should contain this note: “Advance #581479 – McCurdy School Fund”, “Need-Based Scholarships Advanced Special : #581485-0” or “Project Carino: #581483-7.” You will receive a monthly receipt from the Global Ministries for tax purposes.
