Expanding Our Mission: The Light House Brings Clothing Support to Whole Families

Mccurdy Ministries is so thankful for our partnership with Locker 505.  We have been able to serve almost 200 students since we began having monthly Locker 505 referral days in August 2024.  

We have found that the need in the Española valley for clothing is vast and includes a desperate need for clothing for the whole family-including adults, infants, and toddlers. Locker 505’s mission is for students and therefore, they serve students, grades Kindergarten-12th grade.  

We have spent months of discussion with Locker 505 and prayer discerning our calling as we have learned more about the needs of the community in opening the Family Resource Center.  The clothing pantry begun on our campus by Locker 505 will now be a ministry of McCurdy Ministries Family Resource Center.  Locker 505 McCurdy was funded through a generous grant through the Texas Methodist Foundation and United Methodist churches, and we have created a way to sustain this important ministry utilizing generous donations which pour into our doors daily from the community, additional grant funding, use of current staff, and our amazing volunteers.  This will allow McCurdy to serve the whole family (adults, infants and toddlers included), Santa Fe County as well as Rio Arriba County, and have this amazing ministry available to families all during the week.   McCurdy Ministries’ calling is to be a light in the valley, and we are excited to give this new ministry a very appropriate name of ‘The Light House’ as we will continue to spread light in practical ways to families in the valley!  We continue to be close partners with Locker 505 and are so thankful for their amazing hearts!
