Congratulations to Our 2026 Scholarship Recipients

McCurdy Ministries is proud to announce the recipients of this year's scholarships. Victor Sanchez-Valdez has been named the recipient of the McCurdy Foundation Scholarship, and Eliseo Delgado has been selected as the recipient of the Pomeroy Family Scholarship. Each will receive $1,500 to support their pursuit of higher education.

ABOUT ELISEO DELGADO

My name is Eliseo Delgado, and I will be attending New Mexico Highlands University in the fall to get a degree in Social Work, with the overarching goal of becoming a high school guidance counselor. I chose the path of a social worker because the work of a guidance counselor isn't just about academics, but also the mental and emotional well-being of their students. When I become a guidance counselor, I want to give back to Española by giving students the internship and leadership opportunities I was fortunate enough to have—and so much more!

ABOUT VICTOR SANCHEZ-VALDEZ

My name is Victor Sanchez-Valdez and I was born and raised in the Española Valley as well as Ojo Caliente. I plan to attend the University of New Mexico and pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Business Administration. My long-term goal is to establish an engineering firm in Northern New Mexico focused on explaining and improving electrical infrastructure in rural and underserved areas and communities. Through innovation, leadership, and service, I hope to contribute to the economic growth and development of the region while creating opportunities for future generations.
